Auckland 17th-19th Jan 2006

Auckland was bittersweet, it has to be siad, because it was here that we said goodbye to our Neecy-poos as she headed back to Limerick on the 19th of January. We had some fun though... Dee did a climb of Auckland Harbour Bridge and we had a good wander around the city. The best story about Auckland though was on the morning of the 18th of Jan, Dee had to leave the car back to the rental company, but before that we had to move the cars from where they were parked in the street beside the hostel, because parking restrictions were coming into force at 8am. So Dee and I had a slight disagreement about getting out of bed to move the cars and when we eventually got moving, we were standing in the hallway waiting for the lift, both of us in kinda cranky form. Next thing, Teresa Shanahan, Marie's sister, wandered by in her jammies on her way to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Now, for those of you who don't know, Teresa had planned to come to NZ at some stage in February, but had ended up arriving slightly earlier than originally anticipated. So you can imagine our surprise that she just happened to bump into the only people she knew in NZ in our nine-story hostel! Funny old world... We all went for a few drinky-poos that night as a goodbye to Denise and a "Isn't it just mad that we bumped into you" to Teresa.
At this stage in the holiday, I was getting a bit tired of taking pictures. But I did like this one of the Sky Tower reflecting off the glass windows of the building across the street.
